BETTY SUE MILLER CYR, age 70, of Mabelvale, Ark., died Thursday,Feb. 8th, 2007. She was born May 24th, 1936, in Earle, Ark., to the late George and Clara Nelson Miller. Betty was retired from the Little Rock School District, having served as Registrar at Hall High School from 1981 untilJune of 2000.

She is survived by her children: son, Scott Cyr and wife Lisa of Mabelvale; and daughter, Connie Jackson and husband Stan of Little Rock; grandchildren, Jeff and Alex Cyr, and Dylan and Amber Jackson; great-grandchild, Mason Cyr; her brothers and sisters, Mary McNabb (husband Steve) of Greenbrier, Margaret Baker (husband Bill) of Alabam, Ark., G.W. Miller (wife Martha) of Columbia, Tenn., Fred Miller of Wynne, Ruth Wright (husband Charles) of Greenbrier, Larry Miller (wife Becky) of West Memphis, and Nelda Horn (husband Roger) of Benton; by three generations of nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends.

ROBERT B. HUBBARD of Sherwood passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2007. He was born in Lineville, Ala., to the late Byron Hubbard and Melba Hamlin. He was a retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force with over 20 years service. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of North Little Rock, Ark. He was also a very loving husband and father.

He is preceded in death by his late wife, Peggy Hubbard, and both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Emma Jean Hubbard, of seven years, in Sherwood, Ark.; his son Mark (Monica) Hubbard of Advance, N.C.; two granddaughters, Lindsey and Haylee Hubbard.

OPAL HARPOLE MALLETT, age 88, of Jacksonville passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at her home. She was born Oct. 8, 1918, in Jacksonville to Harry and Jewel Boyd Harpole. Mrs. Mallett graduated from Jacksonville High School at the age of 16. She began teaching at the age of 18. Later, she became a graduate of University of Central Arkansas, formerly Arkansas State Teachers College. Mrs. Mallett began her teaching career at Sylvan Hills where she met her husband, John Mallett. On Aug. 31, 1941, they were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville. She taught school at Jacksonville Elementary (for a total of 15 years of teaching)until she retired in 1955. Mrs. Mallett was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star as well as serving several years as the Tour Director for the Jacksonville Senior Center. Mrs. Mallett enjoyed bowling, playing bridge and loved to travel.

She is survived by her husband John Mallett of the home; son, Robert Mallett of Jacksonville; daughter, Betty (Gary) Wallis of North Little Rock; step-grandson, Gary Wallis II of Boston, Mass.; brother, Harry Neil (Sally) Harpole of Houston, Texas; sister, Nell (Lyle) Jones of Lee's Summit, Mo.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m.Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend David Dyer officiating. Interment will follow at Bayou Meto in Jacksonville. HERBERT STANLEY STANFORD, age 85, of Little Rock, formerly of Arkadelphia, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at the Arkansas Hospice. He was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Arkadelphia, the son of the late Herbert Floyd and Lucille Ray Stanford. He attended Arkadelphia public schools, was a Ouachita Baptist University graduate and received his master's degree from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. He served in the U.S. Army 9th Infantry Division in WWII and was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart. After the war he returned to Arkadelphia where he worked in the Arkadelphia Public schools for 35 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Hardage Stanford; one daughter, Janice Stanford of Little Rock.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, in the Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Dr. Lee McGlone officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday till services time at the funeral home. BENTON - Wilma "Dolly" Wilbanks, aged 99, died peacefullyat Stoneybrook Nursing Home in Benton, Arkansas Wednesday, February 7, 2007. Born January 22, 1908 in the Peeler Bend community of Saline County she was predeceased by her parents, James Wilson Turner Peeler,and Laura Ellen Fletcher Peeler, an infant daughter, her siblings, two husbands, a grandson and son-inlaw and her sister-in-law, Daisy Alma Scott.

She grew up on the family farm homesteaded by her father James Peeler after his service in the Civil War. The seventh of eight children, she and her sister Frances assisted their father in all the farm and forest work growing into strong, athletic women. She attended a oneroom country school grade 1 - 8, and returned to 8th grade twice with her teacher giving her advanced assignments.

Wilma married John Franklin (Frank) Brazil in 1930. They lived in several states during his work in highway construction. After Frank died in an automobile accident in Missouri in 1941 Wilma worked in the bauxite/aluminum plant like many other women who filled in while the men were fighting in World War II. She met and married Virgil Wilbanks and they moved to Long Beach, California where he worked in the Naval Shipyards untilthe end of World War II.

When they returned to Arkansas, Wilma worked as a Licensed Psychiatric Technical Nurse at the Arkansas State Hospital until her retirement at age 65. She returned to work at Shelnut Nursing Home as an L.P.N. and retired at age 80. She was a member of Holland Baptist Church. She practiced and taught her skills as a master quilter and seamstress, an expert gardener and fisherman. She leaves us a sweet generosity of spirit.

She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Dolores Brazil-Dale, son-in-law, Theodore Dale, daughter Marilyn Wilbanks Page, four grandchildren, numerous greatgrand children and one greatgreat-grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the Stoneybrook Nursing Home and Arkansas Hospice staff for providing expert, loving care, with special thanks to Arkansas Hospice C.N.A. Kecia Lee, Mary Grace Copping and nurse, Becky Messenger for their extraordinary service. The family requests memorial gifts to Arkansas Hospice Foundation, 5600 W. 12th St., Little Rock Ark. 72204.

CASA - Nathalie Ann Bobowicz Parish, age 63, of Casa, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2006. She was born March 6, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of Stanley Bobowicz and Nathalie Ann Wajtkiewicz Bobowicz. Mrs. Parish was a homemaker and member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Oren Parish of Casa; sons, Nathan and Dale Parish of Casa, and Joseph Parish of Oppelo; daughter, Maria Harris of Casa; brothers, Val Bobowicz of Hebron, Kentucky, and Stanley Bobowicz Jr. of Greely, Colorado; sister, Celeste Valey of Brooklyn, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Lance Anthony Parish.

ENGLAND - Richard Hamilton, 58, of England died Feb. 8th. He was the son of the late Jerome and Ruby Hamilton. He was born on Dec. 6, 1948. He was a plumber and a Baptist. FORT SMITH - Dabney "Dumo" Gilliland, 53, of Fort Smith entered into rest Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 in Fort Smith. He was born Sept. 18, 1953 in Jackson, Miss., was a medical salesman, of the Episcopal faith., a Boy's and Girl's Club coach.

He is survived by his wife, Lana of the home; two daughters, Christa Gilliland of Memphis and Vanessa Buccella of Chicago; two sons, Parish Gilliland of Memphis, and Chase Gilliland of Fort Smith; two brothers, Clay and Camp Gilliland both of Little Rock; sister, Chandler Doss of Fort Smith;.

MORRILTON - Patrick James Calhoun of Morrilton, age 88, passedaway Thursday, February 8, 2007. He was born May 2, 1918, at Stevenson, near Jackson, Kentucky, the thirteenth of fifteen children of the late Alice Caudill and Robert Callaway Calhoun. He is preceded in death byhis parents, thirteen brothers and sisters, and grandson, Steven Calhoun. He was a retired businessman, World War II veteran, and Baptist.

Calhoun enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Thomas, Kentucky in 1937 and was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division during WWII. On June 6, 1944, he led a platoon ashore at Utah Beach as part of the Normandy Invasion by Allied forces under General Eisenhower. After 51 days of combat, Calhoun was wounded on July 26, 1944, during the battle of Saint-Lo, France, and spent the remainder of the war in an Allied hospital in Cardiff, England.

Calhoun was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the American Defense Service Ribbon, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. He later received a Medal from the French Government commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion and the liberation of France.

He married Norma Jean Goatcher of Formosa, Arkansas, in 1943 while stationed at Camp Joe T. Robinson in North Little Rock and returned to Arkansas after the war. Calhoun ran small businesses throughout his career operating a grocery store, service station, and managed Swain's Furniture and Morrilton Drug Co. He was also a salesman for Warehouse Distributing in Morrilton and retired from the Bigelow Manufacturing Co.

Calhoun was chairman of the Republican Party of Conway County in the 1960s and a political reformer during Governor Winthrop Rockefeller's two terms. He was also the longtime commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #13 in Morrilton. For many years, Calhoun served as superintendent of Sunday schools, was head usher, and taught a Men's Bible Class at Calvary Baptist Church in Morrilton.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Calhoun, of Morrilton; a daughter, Mona Kaye and husband, Jerry Scroggins; two sons, Mark Calhoun, Patrick "Rick" Calhoun and wife Julie of Little Rock; sister, June Pitts, of New Haven, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Susan Dumas of Morrilton, Mary Katherine Rambo of Nashville, Tennessee, Elizabeth Calhoun of Los Angeles, California, and Shannon Scroggins of Rogers, Arkansas; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Morrilton on Saturday, February 10 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Union Hill Cemetery in Formosa, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 521 Clifton Street, Morrilton, Ark. 72110.

PINE BLUFF - Charles Gene Milam, 81, of Pine Bluff passed awayon February 7, 2007, at White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born November 22, 1925, in Morrilton to Florence Sumner and William Benjamin Milam. Gene was the founding father of the motorcycle movementin Pine Bluff, opening an Indian motorcycle dealership in 1947 and later adding Harley Davidsons. As CEO of Milam's, Inc., Gene and his family have owned and operated Milam's Honda Kawasaki in Pine Bluff since 1960.

Gene is survived by his wife of 59 years, Artie Butler Milam, whom he married October 20, 1947, in Pine Bluff; one son, Bubba Milam and his wife, Pam, of Pine Bluff; daughter, Debbie Milam of Little Rock; grandchildren, Chance, Katie and Charlie Milam of Pine Bluff; sisterin-law, Ethel Milam of Little Rock; and a host of relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Robbie Milam; brother, Bill Milam; and sister, Jeanette Justice.

Gene served in the Naval Air Corps, where he was a nose gunner and the fleet boxing champ. He was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church. Gene loved to hunt, fish and study the Bible in his spare time.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Watson Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Fitzhugh, Reverend M.L. Faler and Dr. Don Nall officiating. A luncheon and visitation will follow the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery at 2 p.m. by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Gene's many caregivers at White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center.
